Thor Hurricane 32A

Help! Just looked at a 2013 Thor Hurricane and will look at 2014 they have coming in next week. Please share good and bad things. Considering buying.

  • Thank you so much for your input, We have now narrowed our choices down to either a 2013 Thor DayBreak or a 2013 Georgetown Forest River, leaning toward the latter because we love the floor plan. The DayBreak is new and the Georgetown is used with 9,000 miles on it. The people traded up for diesel.

I'd suggest staying away from any new Thor product. Please take into consideration that the Thor was not my first RV, I've been RVing since 1987 and it was my fifth unit and my third Class A. I just dumped it at an extremely heavy financial cost. It was a new, off the lot 2013/2014 Daybreak 34XD. I traded it for an entry level Itasca Sunstar 35F. The Thor we bought stayed in a local shop here in Vegas for 4 and a half of the five months we owned it for numerous issues with the worst being a slide issue. The F-53 Ford Mor/Ryde chassis and drive train was excellent, the coach, body and total lack of quality control was unreal. For the money, IMHO, Winnebago/Itasca is a far better bang for the buck.

Well to be fair the daybreaks and challengers are technically Thor however they are really Damons. Thor bought Damon. As I understand they are still made by Damon, just renamed, which never quite had a good reputation. Until Thor steps in and revamps the factories and quality control they will be lesser quality. Every builder has it's problems, but Thor and it's direct products are well worth the money.

  • Most people will have an opinion both positive and negative, including those who have never owned a recent THOR product.

Just remember Hurricane's are considered an "Entry level" coach and I did not pay MSRP when I bought mine new. :R

As for my .02 cents, I would consider another Hurricane if I was in the market for a gas powered coach.:E

If you require high-end features, used DP may be a nice alternative.
