Thor Hurricane

I would appreciate all input, good and bad, concerning the Thor Hurricane motor home. Wife and I are looking at a 28 foot model. Please share good and bad experiences with the motor home rather than the dealer. If you have experiences with the factory, please share those also.
  • We have a 2115 Hurricane 27K and we love it. Ford has lots of power and handles great. The kitchen even has an oven which a lot of MH don't have. I have a list of 5 minor problems that we want to fix. We are going to take to the dealer to address these issues. On our walk through the dealer pointed 3 problems and we found 2 more after a 7 day outing.
Thor called us and asked how we like the new MH. We told about the issues we had and they assured us that they would be here for us if the problems were not solved.
  • Are you looking at new? I have the 2000 Hurricane 30Q and overall it works for us. Many of the things we dislike have been improved upon in newer or different units I think. No heat in the bathroom, front seats wont turn more than 90 degrees, and drawer hardware and some cabinetry less than ideal. We have only had it a couple of years and it works for us. If they still made the 30Q I would buy a new one.
  • I had a 2009 Hurricane, model 30Q. Handled great, Ford V-10. A few issues,
drawer hardware being one of them. Closet clothes rod broke completely off one side (on a trip). I think it had a leak by the passenger window/swivel chair as the wallpaper had tiny bumps in it. Overall quality of coach.. maybe a 5. Dealer took care of many issues the first year. The worst of it was a horrible wind noise coming mainly from the passenger seat window. Could not open the driver/passenger windows as they rattled too bad. Nothing could be done about it. Loved the no-slide floor plan. Good set up. Drove out to TX and back and several other trips, no mechanical issues.

I would purchase another one, but would check it over really good.
  • I have the model you're looking at. We love the floor plan and its very easy to drive being only 28ft. We've had a few minor issues, but nothing I couldn't fix myself.
  • Thank you, everyone who responded. Wife and I are going to look at a new one tomorrow. We won't be buying right away, but hope to sometime in the next few months. Again, we appreciate all of your input.
