Again - as I understand it (and while I'm an engineer I have no expertise in TPO), TPO (composition) varies considerably from manufacturer to manufacturer. I know many (if not most) trailers use TPO but it seem most higher quality motor homes have gone to solid surface roofs. In my (40 year) experience, aluminum and fibergalss roofs require almost no maintenance - they also don't bleed dark streaks down the sides of the MH (interesting to see the advertisements offering regular TPO maintenance). BTW - 5 years? As I said - I had an Itasca with aluminum roof (where I'd expect considerable problem from expansion/contraction) for 18 years and never did anything more than wash the roof - never caulked a seam. Ditto for the last Winnebago with fiberglass roof that we owned for 7 years. Many very long trips - absolutely no roof maintenance required on either unit and never a leak.

Since 2003 there is a standard for tpo roofing material,try researching instead of relying on your "expertise". Just because it's tpo does not mean it will leak end of story. I really question your "never" maintaining your roofs, I have seen fiberglass winnie roofs that chalked from not being taken care of, as well as spider cracks forming. Fiberglass/gel coats age, look at any boat, or even better look at the side of a coach that hasn't been taken care of. You're going to tell me the roof withstands the elements better being up top in direct contact. IDK. Like I said you're one in a million.

If you care to look at the Tiffin product line you can do so at www.tiffinmotorhomes.com. Their entry level is the Breeze followed by the Allegro followed by the Allegro RED. Our last two motor homes have been Tiffin and we have enjoyed them and we know that they back their product. However there are a lot of good brands out there. Enjoy whatever you decide on.

Thanks, I guess I have the TPO roof. It does have seams...a couple at least. I don't do roof very well anymore @ 81, I ain't much on climbing on to my Bounder.

I am looking hard at a Tiffin DP 32BR Breeze at my local dealer. Also looked at Fleetwood Bounders, Thor and Winnebagos. I have a friend with a 2013 Breeze. He is a long time RVer and has had four DP units. He like his Breeze with few minor problems....easily fixed.

Thermoplastic Polyolefin - it's a sheet material. very durable and flexible which makes it ideal for RV's. Certainly one would think a solid surface material is more durable, but not so fast. All RV roofs have seams and holes so no matter what you have they all can leak. The seams are what require care and I don't care what type you have. Fiberglass is probably the most durable, but if it cracks or breaks the cost is exponential to fix compared to TPO. Many RVers have gone for decades with the original TPO so it's really not as bad as what the fiberglass owners will tell you. Like all things RV related, you pay more for a solid surface roof.

As you know, a sales person will tell you anything they believe you will believe. Few know their product...I mean really know them. Before I spend 150K++ I will look, poke, feel, check and look some more...ha ha

Thanks for asking that question! We are now more interested in a Coachmen Encounter and I have absolutely no idea what kind of roof it has. One more question to add to my list. The salesmen will probably run when they see me!

Bounder is parked in my barn when not in use. I know there are rubber and metal roofs but don't know which a TPO roof is....explain please. Thanks.
