- consumeratlargeExplorerI asked Coachmen about mine, similar to yours. They advised against it. So, looking underneath, there are places to fasten one there. I was thinking about the tire winches on pickups, but these tires are heavier. So, maybe jack it up with blocks on one side then the other, etc, and fasten it rachet straps and a safety chain. Personally, I'm thinking that if I carry a small motorcycle and a cellphone, and can relax in the motorhome if I have to wait, maybe I don't need a spare to change myself.
Some have suggested tying one up in the back frame, but only the tire, not the wheel, then calling the cavalry, who will always have the tools, but not necessarily the tire, with them.
The weight is significant, since I will be at max tongue weight when pulling trailer, and don't want to max out the chassis overall. So far, no spare.
While driving for hours, I see lots of trailers with flats, but motorhomes on the side have the hoods open, never seen one with an obvious flat yet. Yes, I know, it happens, though. - topflite51Explorer

Sorry. Didn't realize that a common sense suggestion would offend you.

- MR_MACExplorerWhen I bought my MH Ford, F53, I talked dealer in to installing a spare up under rear, hey tried putting a crank up on, but tire would be too low, would mot fit between frame, so I took spare put into car trunk on plywood. My toad is a Ford fusion, the tire is heavy to lift, so I roll it up on tool box (5") put a moving blanket on car and flip it in. That is where it gona be when traveling, but happy to have it, its a 19.5 @32". One problem I took car spare out of compartment and put it on top of MH spare - Just in case? - Brother of mine spent night on road waiting for tire, not gona happen.
- J-RoosterExplorerNot only should you call your RV Manufacture as Topflite 51 suggested, and also call your insurance company. The major Insurance Companies were a big influence on why RV's (and cars) don't have rear mounted spare tires anymore. If your vehicle is hit from the rear or you back into something there was way more damage caused from the rear mounted spare. You might not be covered if you install that tire! It's all about $$$!
