- ferndaleflyerExplorer IIIThat is a steal for a top of the line unit-----Myself, I don't even consider a unit with slides....makes it hateful while moving + they seem to break a lot. But thats just me because I don't live in it, don't camp in it, just use it at the race track so we don't have to use those nasty bathrooms and eat that horrible food. I have a high end DP---BUT NOT THAT HIGH END!
- GjacExplorer IIII liked the shorter DP's with several slides that you were considering better, like the 34 ft Excursion. However I know you have been researching this for a while, what has led you to this DP?
- sailor_louExplorerIf I was in the market for a DP, I'd would definitely consider it. Good luck and let us know if you check it out (or better yet....buy it).

To each there own but $129,000 for a 16 year old motorhome with 176,000 miles and no slides seems to much, you do know for that same amount of dollars you can buy a brand new class A gas motorhome with slides plus warranty..
The mileage is NOTHING for a prevost chassis. The ride will be better than ANY new motorhome you will find in that price range. All you have to do is ask the owner to take you for a ride and you will KNOW why I would choose a prevost diesel over any new gas. These coaches will easily go 1 million miles plus.
FWIW, I would consider having the chassis inspected by a Prevost service center if you are considering buying. I believe the cost for inspection is right around $800 and well worth it for peace of mind. - IvylogExplorer IIIMike, I do not keep up with Prevost prices but that's a lot of MH for "Make Offer" starting at $129K. Based on your previous posts you've been doing your homework although this is a long ways from the Monaco Dynasty you posted. Fortunately it has the 60 engine (good for 1 million) and not the 92. Based on the pictures and his answer about tires... he's taken really good care of it. I always recommend buying more MH than you think you need... ONE TIME and this REALLY does that. If later you decide on adding a slide you'll still have a great MH for less than $150K.

But in another 16 years the gas motorhome will be junk, while the Prevest will still be worth 50% of the current cost.

That's because 3/4 of gas motorhome owners don't take care of there motorhomes, seen so many 10 year old motorhomes just abused and used up, however when one pays lots of $$ for a diesel motorhome they tend to take care of them better.
One example is my neighborhood, we have RV parking here and all gas motorhomes sit out in the sun getting baked and very little use but the diesel motorhome owners have nice carports and tend to use theirs more. - AprilWhineExplorer

Both were converted to RVs from a new bus.
A lack of slides really isn't a problem. All you're missing is floor space, slides do not add storage capacity. - AprilWhineExplorer

1997 is a really good year for Prevost. The fuel economy is much better that the later engines. The Detroit 60 series is the same power basically as the 8v92, but with much better economy. The 50% point of the Series 60, where half of the engines in service have had internal problems, and half have not, is 800,000 miles.
Great to see a low mileage Coach. We bought ours when it had 220,000 miles on it. We installed new batteries all around, this year it got 8 new tires.
Super easy to work on, good access to everything. We had more down time with our 2008 40 ft DP than we have had with the bus. Almost all mechanical driveline parts are standard class 8 truck parts. The alternator is not really exotic, but not a Pep Boys item.
Once you make a few trips in it, you will not go back. Yes, the DP was bought new, had slides and a warranty. And we darn sure needed the warranty. The builder stood behind it, but we really got tired of waiting weeks for repairs.
Solid, quiet, road handling is great in the bus. We boondock in it at times, and the capacities for water and holding tanks let us comfortably go without hookups for up to 7 days.
I was looking at the drivers log yesterday, and for the entire time we have owned it we have averaged 7.9 MPG, towing a trailer with an SUV on it. 204 gallons of diesel fuel allows the range to select fuel from the lowest price seller, even if it is several states away.
Good luck, feel free to pm with any questions.
