I recently posted about my problem getting cable. I got some nice responses providing good advice. My new coach has a complicated entertainment system. One which we had a great deal of trouble getting the satellite to work. Much different than the one I had in my last coach, last year. So when I hooked up the cable in the dark on Saturday night and it didn't work I assumed it was some switches I failed to move. I tried everything and nothing worked so I assumed my coax had a break so today I opened the electrical bay to remove it and there in front of my eyes was the coax screwed on to the mail end of the "portable satellite connection". Now I knew it was there and it was to the left of the cable connection but somehow when I switched hands to reach back to attach the coax I got on the wrong outlet. No wonder I had a problem. Never even thought of it as I was sure I had the connection correct. This was the simple part. All works well now that I am connected to the right outlet. A good lesson. Before you get to far check all the obvious things and never assume. I am glad it is working and feel a bit stupid. Thanks to all who tried to help.

You were right. Obviously there was a problem at the factory and THEY switch the connections. Glad you found their mistake. :B

I've made a rule in my life at this point whether it's something that has been misplaced or not working. Slow down and go to where it is supposed to be or troubleshoot with the basics. I've learned that in my haste I will go right past the solution.Glad you got it fixed!

It usually is something you have just recently done somewhat related... Almost all of the battery problems you hear is my battery doesn't work. Then after a few more questions you find out that guy just replaced the batteries.Then further questions tell the story that the two new 6VDC batteries are installed wrong...Some of the guys on here can see through all of this and know where to start asking questions haha...I usually just stumble around and finally find where I goofed up...Roy Ken

I am sure glad I never did anything that dumb ---- and if you believe that I have some swamp land in New Jersey (real easy to reclaim) that I would like to sell you. :)

I'm not all that smart, but I do know a little about a lot of things, and not a lot about anything. I do know that my cables were mislabeled when I first tried to hook up cable and satellite. I also know that they are labeled right now.

I try real hard not to blame others without good cause. I don't blame sales people as I have small expectations. Technical folks who seem less competent frustrate me. Manufacturers who put out new products with severe flaws make me angry. I have been critical of Winnebago for declining quality control. I have defended them in the past. I have purchased far too many new coaches in the past six years but do have good experience on the declining quality control. I very much want the Camping World near me to be a go to place for service but at this point they have not met my expectations from experience with others who have been better. I will continue to work with them. I am fortunately and some times not so fortunate one of those people with a great memory. I can tell you what suit shirt and tie I wore to a hearing in 1979 and all the other details. I won't forget this stupid mistake. You are correct Arch I do now know my way around a lot of things I wouldn't have known if I had not made the wrong connection from the get go. I like making lemonade out of lemons. Thanks folks for helping.

That assuming the poster has good memory.
Years ago I work for industrial maintenance.
I was new employee, while my coworkers had been working on the same plant for 10 years or more.
On year 2 when the same thing broke again, I remember the procedure how to fix it.
The guys who had seen it at least 6-8 times had no clue.

One of the benefits of a mistake like that is you become very familiar about how your system works so the next time you encounter a problem you've got a little more wisdom on the subject.

I know a LOT about things....lol

Thanks for the update, my list of stupid things I've done is a mile long. On my 07 Hr ambassador the cable and sattlelight plug in are labeled in reverse, that one took a while.
