Tire decision, Michelin, BFG, or Kumho

After 8 years, it's time to replace my 245-70R-19.5 tires. I got these prices from a reputable local store. They are all out the door including balance and new valve stems.

Michelin.......................... $2901

BF Goodrich....................... $2318

Kumho............................. $2066

Any thoughts or advice???

The Michelin price seems a little high. FMCA has a very good discount program thru Michelin, are you a FMCA member? Was the Michelin a XZE load range H?

Other friends have had good luck with Good Year. While others have tried TOYO, also a good tire at a very good price.

I'm not currently a member of FMCA------could you (or someone) check what the price would be for the Michelin 24570R19.5 XRVT tire? It might make sense to rejoin.

    $364.74 each plus mounting charges

  • Just a thought, B.F. Goodrich is made by Michelin Tire Company, I replaced all 6 of mine with Michelin XRV this past Fall thru the FMCA/Michelin Fleet Tire Program. Good Luck with your tires on whatever you decide.
  • I'll just say that I replaced 6 Michelin XRV 235 22.5 tires on our Itasca Horizon after 140,000 kilometers (87,500 miles)with the same thing. There was probably enough tread left to make another return trip to Mexico (12,000Km, 7,500 miles) but since many of those kilometers were done on less that perfect (some terrible) roads from Alaska to Mexico we decided to change them as there was no way to tell how much if any damage had been done by the potholes and topes (speed bumps on steroids found everywhere in Mexico).
  • The prices were for 6. The Michelin was an XRVT load range F which is the original load range.

The other tires were load range G.
  • How many tires? 4 or 6? I've had excellent success with Mitch-el-in ....
