Tired of parking lot camping

I have no problems with camping without hook-ups it just would be nice if I could find it all. I will check out all of the suggestions I am also looking for boondock spots along the coast or a lake area ..thank you all

In the Mendocino county area, I recommend Pomo RV park just South of Fort Bragg. We have no problem fitting in there in our 40' Dynasty and toad. The spaces are large and level with lots of trees and shrubs which provide plenty of privacy between sites.

Immigrant Lake just off of I-5 right over the Oregon border, incredible spot overlooking a great lake with full hook ups run by the county. A real gem!

We choose as our first choice, national parks, national forests, state parks, Corps of Engineers, county parks and even city parks. We love natural surroundings and avoid private parks as much as possible.

We have a 40' motorhome and don't find a problem fitting into these kinds of parks but you have to do your homework. You can find some kind of hookups in all of these types. Not every one of the national parks, etc. but certainly in some of them. Perhaps not full hookups but even national parks or forests will offer electric sites, sometimes water and most often dump stations. All work for us! Also, we don't require any hookups if that's where we want to be. All RVs are self-contained so really, why do you need hookups? You just learn to conserve. It's very doable.

You'll find the government parks (local, state and federal) will have great space and general privacy since they are not trying to make a profit. The more a commercial park can pack in the higher the profit. The down side not all have full hook ups. Most will have water and electric (30 amp is pretty common) but just a dump station. Also sites might be a bit shorter but with a bit of planning shouldn't be problem.

With the coach you have you should be able to go four or five days on the tanks. Conserve water and you could push it to seven.

ON the north side of Moab, UT there are places where you can park/camp right along the Colorado River. Many sites are spacious enough to handle your rig and the scenery and activities are great.

The size of your rig is going to limit access to a lot of places such as you describe seeking. State and National Park campgrounds tend to be the most spacious and in-the-woods places, but tend to be older, built before large rigs got popular. Still, there are some. There were a couple places up along the PCH in Northern California where I stayed a few years ago like you describe, although I don't know if they are still open due to budget cuts.

I have been searching and found some on the Colorado River but too hot during the summer. I am looking for a space that your neighbor is about 15 to 20 yards away from you and you have a nice camp area. Boondocking areas up the california coast or lake areas would be ok. I am just looking for something really nice. Getting information from folks the have been to the sites is a lot better than trying to find one via the internet thanks for your replies

Arizona : Cattail Cove State Park, it's between Parker, AZ. and Lake Havasu City, AZ. the lake is a 16 mile long water resevoir for Los Angeles, CA. the Lake is split in half AZ. on one side, CA. on the other side. At Cattail Cove you will have a view of the water and looking across the lake at Mountains into San Bernardino County, CA. the campsites are very spacious with fire rings and you will be able to park your boat in your campsite. There is a boat ramp onsite and a bath house. All the sites have water and electricity. They don't have septic hook-ups, but the park supplies a blue boy for free to empty your tanks without moving your coach. The blue boys are at the campground host site. All the roads in the park are paved and each site is fairly level and paved. The south end of the lake is the deepest around 45' and the lake averages 35' in depth there is no speed limit on the lake and good fishing (Big Strippers) along with other water sports. 15 miles south of Cattail Cove (in Parker) there is a Indian Casino, Walmart, Safeway, gas stations, restaurants and hardware stores etc. in Lake Havasu about the same distance to the north there is the same but more. You cannot boat to the Casino in Parker due to the Parker Dam, but you can boat to another Casino across the lake from Lake Havasu City, and if you golf you can boat across the Lake from Cattail Cove to Black Meadow Landing, CA. they have a store and campground golf course. There is a store / restaurant next door to Cattail Cove it's called Sandpoint and lastly there is another restaurant and golf course that you can boat to at the end of the lake just past Parker Dam. Hwy. 10 in CA. then Hwy. 95 in AZ. will get you there.
