Don't DSL's do ok with an 18 ply tire because of air ride? A gas rig I would think would be a rough ride with 18 ply tires thats why Michelins are 2 ply for a better ride!

Cooper half price and with the replacement every five to seven years don't seem to get the full goodies out of the Michelins. Anyone run Coopers out there and if so are they a good tire? Thanks

Why do you need 18 ply tires on a 36ft.coach.

Instead of batting this tire age thing around yet again with our own opinions I would refer all to the tire manufacturers web sites.I run Michelin RV tires and This Link takes you to their discussion of tire life for RV tires.

My current tires are 4.5 years old and have been in use for 3.5 years. I see some small sidewall cracks and will have them checked over the next time I have the coach serviced. I will not hesitate to replace between 5 and 6 years because the lives of my wife and grandkids (when traveling with us) depend on the air staying in those tires as we roll at 62 MPH. Just my OPINION. Someone can buy my "lightly worn" used tires and stretch another 4 years out of them, its my money!

How many RV drivers have taken a polymer science course in an engineering curriculum?

How many know their axle weights?

How many check their tire pressure?

How many use a TPMS?

Failures of tires are mostly due to poor RV maintenance. Do you expect other items improperly maintained to have a long life?

Of course you hear about tire failures at 6 or 7 year mark as many people do not maintain their tires properly.

Tires can and will last longer than the internet myth on age if properly maintained. If not properly maintained they will not.

New (6) Michelins for us just this year. I have had Michelins on several vehicles, and yes one of those times they applied a warranty for an issue and replaced all the tires as they were all from the same batch. Have been very satisfied with them and not going to switch now. Have been on other tires when purchased a vehicle or RV used, but back to Michelins soon as they need replacements. I ended up with Continentals..so far, so good. The orig Goodyear tires were OK..but many issues with rivering so people reported..when I changed the tires found a spot and bubbles on the two front steer tires on the inside...could have been much worse.

Regardless of consumer stories, Michelin rarely if ever warrants their tires, at least that was my experience as a tire dealer for way too many years. According to Michelin, their tires almost never were defective but rather suffered from customer abuse, NO matter what happened.

Back in 1998 I returned a tire to Michelin because I had some exploding for no apparent reason. The only explanation I got was that the tires were 7 years old and everyone knows not to run tires that long. The guy that claimed to be their U.S. service manager berated me for not knowing that even though he would not show me anything in writing to support his assertion. He did say that RV tire life is less since they are often left to sit for extended periods with weight on the tires.

I have seen tires last longer but I am not taking that chance on my motor home.

X2, went to Fairbanks, Alaska and back no problems.

We've used Bridgestones tires on our coach now for 14 years, excellent service with zero problems. Highly recommend them.
