Tires

My existing Michelin 255/80x22.5 tires are 8 years old and I am replacing them. The Michelins I have on now I have been pleased with. When I bought them 8 years ago they were 2400 dollars out the door. Looking at Michelin pricing now I am guessing that I will pay approximately 3500 thru 4000 dollars so I am asking for suggestions for different brands. I have thought of Toyos but can't find much information on them and I am not interested in Good Years. Please help with suggestions.

    Firestone maybe. In the same boat here. I saw a lot of Firestone on the big trucks. A lot of people here so you should get a good clue of what is out there.

    Try B F Goodrich ST230's. Load range H. We bought them and have since replaced them with Michelins but we were happy with the Goodrich. They are owned by Michelin and made in the USA. They were recommended by a tire shop in TX who is familiar with Prevost coaches. They are a bit stiffer than the Michelins is all. We replaced them at 6.5 years but the tire guy said we could probably get another year out of them as they were wearing fine.

    You have size that is used commercially, or at least my 12R22.5 were.
    You can find sizes used by commercial trucking in 2 years age with 20+ percent thread left.
    Bill's Tire in Pacheco could find them for me for $100-150

    Mine were 275/70R/22.5, I bought Hankooks that were less than $400 each mounted, balanced and tax out the door. Had Goodyear before those and the Hankooks were much better in ride and performance.

    Buy the ones from the company that gives you the best deal. Your tires will age out before you run the tread off them.

    We put Toyo's on our motorhome when we purchased it 6 years ago. We have absolutely no complaints. Will be time for new again in a year and they don't even look like they have worn any. Still look like new tires. We got them because they are used on heavy duty trucks that travel the x-ways at higher speeds. We would buy them again.

    Toyos are excellent tires as well as Hankook. If you go with the least expensive of the two you will probably be quite pleased.

    I have Kellys on mine, might be Kelly Springfield 255-75-22.5 and they were around $2000 or less for 6 out the door---they gave me $125 each for the ones they took off so I guess real price was $2750. Been on there long enough to know they are good.

    I replaced my 255/80/22.5 Michelins with Bridgestone 265/75/22.5 tires. Very little difference in revolutions per mile so no recalibration of any kind needed. No noticeable difference in ride or handling.

    Ed, you can get Michelin tires cheaper thru the FMCA/Michelin Fleet tire program! And, I will add that the price of rubber on the stock market constantly changes. And when I bought my Michelins thru the FMCA I was not charged for shipping.
