  • Several new cars that we have purchased in the last few years have come with Continentals.

Our '08 Dynasty came with Michelins. Six and a half years and 57,000 trouble free miles I replaced with Michelins through the FMCA program in June of 2013 (original tires had a 4306 date codes). The tire store gave me $50 each for the take-off's. I drove on those new tires for almost 13,000 miles before selling it in fall of 2014.

Now, our new coach came with Michelin's. Michelin is the only manufacturer of the 365 tire that we run on the steer and tag axle. We have 315's on the drive axle. The two front tires were replaced under warranty as I was getting a vibration (100% covered). The two 365's were listed on the invoice at Prevost at $1,002 each.

I trust my Michelin's. Good friends had factory Goodyears on their '07 Monaco Signature that started the rivering problem so they replaced them with Michelin's (just the fronts). They sold that coach in 2012 and replaced them all with new Michelin's with before selling it.

I remember reading about Michelin's that had problems years ago. I haven't heard anything lately about problems.

    Safe travels,
    MM.
  • Hankook is a great choice. I'm running Samson's right now and can't say a bad thing about them.

Get the best tires you can afford; big name brand with a good reputation like the ones you mentioned.

EDIT: One person's individual experience and biases should be taken with a gain of salt. I have personally used Michelin's on ALL of my cars and trucks for about 30 years now and have had not one speck of trouble. Well, except for the set of Hydro-edges which I hated. :)

BUT....IMHO, I think it is a huge waste of money getting "premium" tires if you don't use them many miles in a year and in "light duty" service. That describes my use and I get the cheapest ones that my truck tire dealer recommends. They need to be replaced due to age WAY before they are worn out. I hate to throw away 4/5 of the tread on a $500 tire.
  • Michelin makes tires for REvs and trucks. How many people buy truck tires because they are cheaper put them on their RV and then complain?
  • We are currently needing new tires on MH and 2 cars...YIKES! On other forums, I'm reading A LOT about Toyos, so we're going to start looking there. I'm also reading about Hankooks as well as Continentals. I understand Continental is now part of the FMCA tire program. Haven't checked that out, though.
  • I agree what you will get is opinions, many based on what people have read and/or personal experience.

For my money Michelin would be the LAST tire I would buy, we simply have had repeatedly poor service from them, on our cars, trucks, and RVs. I just replaced another set that didn't make it half way to their rated service life.

We have had good service from many other brands; Goodyear, Cooper, Bridgestone, Hankook, and Yokohama, to name a few.

Our current MH has Bridgestones. So far they have been a nice upgrade from the Michelins that came off, which ironically , were the only set of Michelins we've ever owned that DID give us good service.

IMO there are a lot of reasonably priced good options available today and being the most expensive doesn't always mean it's the best.
  • I agree with Bill. Love my Michelins. Have used BF Goodrich and Goodyear also. Michelins take it for me. Ride better, steer better.

  • The problem you will have is that you are going to get a lot of opinions and unfortunately, they are all simply opinions. I love my Michelins. I have used Firestone, BG Goodrich and Michelin and I will not go back.
