Toad....4 wheels down

I liked my Tracker as well but I now have a 4X4 Jeep Liberty (bought 2012 used at CarMax) and I really like it even better. Jeep has several 4 down towables and making them towable involves pushing one button for 3-4 second. Taking them out of towing mode involves pushing the same button for 1 second.
Love, love, love my Jeep (and, more importantly, so does Janet!).

Suzuki Samurai are very popular, expecially after '91 with upgrade to EFI. I wanted one but wasn't able to find what I wanted. I then discovered my Daihatsu ROCKY and I'm very happy with it. You could consider one. Manual Trans, 3-mode transfer- Low 4WD,High 4WD, High 2WD. A/C, Electric windows & door locks, Cab top removeable, and rear cover removeable. They call it a semi-convertible.

There a many custom shops, and small shops, that will refurbish your Tracker. Cost effective? But then my neighbor has been refurbishing really old Bentleys for years. Thinking back, I often regret selling my first car, a 57 Chevy, which was then just an old used car, and later selling my Olds 442. Who knew they would be classic.

All of the Chevrolet HHR's are towable with automatic or manual trans mission, 4 down. They were built from 2005 through 2011. They can easily carry four and with the rear seats folded down have plenty of room for large dogs or other baggage.

Don't forget Suzuki's. Early on they made the GEO's. I have a 1995 Sidekick and a 2006 Grand Vitara. We prefer to tow the Sidekick, it is a lot lighter. The Vitara and Grand Vitara are very nice but for some reason we prefer the Sidekick.

Both are excellent for Off Road or rough road's. The 4X4, A/T, 4 door Sidekicks are in the $2800 to $3200 range. The early models do rack up miles when towed. Mine has over 170K and about 50% is towed.

We took the GV out during the Show at "Q" last year and went all over the desert including a lot of quad trails. Lots of fun.

I also wanted a Tracker because of the small size and weight and no alterations for towing. I found several on Craigslist in my area, but they sell very fast as it seems a lot of motorhome people want them. I finally was able to act fast enough and purchase the 3rd one that I had found on Craigslist. Ebay might be a good possibility too.

If you like your Tracker, then a trip to Yuma in the winter is a must for you. Last year I saw at least 20-30 Tracker/Vitara vehicles for sale on the various park & sell lots or on craigslist. Most were in very good, rust free condition and had the tow setup already on them.
