Thanks I'll check on a hitch. My problem now is finding a van I can flat tow with roof height for my 53" tall motorcycle.

I think we're on the same page. Wife found it in the paperwork. Looks like the weak link is the hitch. I'll admit I'm confused!

Sooooooo....If I understand this all correctly,,,

It came from the RV manufacturer weighing 14044

If I removed all my stuff and put it back stock, It could pull 11956

IF!!! I upgrade the hitch and left all my stuff out!

Looks like I need to weigh the RV full of fuel, normal water tank level, with all my stuff and some food. Add that to the weight of the wife (WILL NOT POST WEIGHT!), dog and myself. Then subtract that weight from the 26000 "GCWR" and that would tell me the max weight I can tow.

Correct????

Advice to ignore the law by folks that won't even sign their advice is probably best ignored.

According to Winnebago, you either have an 18K lb. GVWR with a 26K lb. GCWR (Ford) or an 18K lb. GVWR with a 21K lb. GCWR (Chevy). Either way, you only have a 5K rated tow hitch with a 350 lb. tongue weight.

If I had the Chevy, I wouldn't do it. If I had the Ford, I would do it if the tow hitch was upgraded.

This is typical line for people who have no experience.
Highway Patrol is not carrying tape measures, nor do the carry scales.
So even going over allowed length is easy to spot, lot of people do that for years.
DOT officers carry scales, but they don't bother privately owned vehicles.
Same with insurance. Will all the accidents that happen in US every minute, nobody reported that insurance lawyer had the involved vehicles weight.
Lastly in US the vehicle weight ratings are usually dictated by government fees.
Let's say a chassis can handle 35,000 lb. But that in truck application would require CDL (RVs are exempt).
CDL requirements would make for less potential buyers, so manufacturer registers the vehicle at 26,000 lb where no CDL is required.
Bottom line, the legal numbers are usually useless and you need to do some research to find out what is technically acceptable.
In Europe 3000 lb sedan towing 5000 lb trailer is every day occurrence, when in US 20,000 lb coach towing 6000 lb is subject to bashing.
And we can't even tow at 100 mph like others do ;)
