Toilet Seal

What are you using in the black tank to lubricate your pull handle valves?
(and please... no comments from the "you don't need chemicals in the black tank" group.)

Do you just pour that down the toilet ?? Let it sit in the toilet bowl a few hours and then flush it down into the tank.

Anything that says it's a black tank product that lubricates valves... is gonna work. I use odorlos from Camping World Catalog Item # 58996 . Amazon has it too.

TRY first drying the bowl and seal,then coat the seal with vaseline and work the peddle back and forth,then put some water in bowl and see if it holds water.

I don't use very many chemicals in my black tank because we empty it very often. But when camping in extreme heat we use a chemical (for smell) that does not have formaldehyde in it. I use WD-40 to lubricate my pull handles. After, I pull the handle out, I squirt the rods twice then push the rods back in. I'm on Chimo so I try and stay away from chemicals as much as possible, my oncologist doesn't want me to handle or smell chemicals.

There is a seal product avail, can't think of the name but made by Thetford I get it at Camping World. It really works!

As an Ex-engineer with Thetford, I will tell you that there is a good possibility that the seal system has been fouled by calcium papitate. Just a little CLR (easier to get than most acids) and that may do it by itself.

mine will leak and its not any calcium. I use vasoline as a lube and when sitting all summer I use cooking oil.Just pour a little around the seal and fill bowel with water. holds all summer long

Mineral oil. Been using it for years. Just pour a small amount in the bowl when you are not using the RV. Keeps your seals working good and also will keep your dump valves working smooth. Take a teaspoon and it will keep you smooth as well.
