Too Old?

I don't know when to quit but I want to pass on peacefully in my sleep just like my Grandfather did...........NOT shrieking and screaming like the passengers in his car! :Z :E :W

I'm gonna keep on trucking until the big sleep gets me or my wife yanks the keys outa my bony old fingers (she's a lot younger). Which ever comes first!

For my wife and I, it's not so much when I should give up RV driving all together, but under what conditions should I not drive. We are lucky - she is much younger and a very good driver, so we always have a choice who drives.

My worst is in the rain at night; I just don't see the road well then, so it is always she under those conditions. My endurance is not what it used to be. I used to be good for all day driving, with suitable breaks. Now I rarely put in more than three hours a day, and that is in several stints with the wife driving shifts in between.

So for our family, the question is not yet about giving up the class A driving, it is about conditions and guidelines.

I'm 64 now. When my doc no longer signs off on my competition drivers licence for my 160+ mph drag car, then I'll ask HIM how many more years for the MH.

That's how I found out I don't need a license to drive at my age. I asked my doctor if I was ok to drive and he said, "Let me see your license." When I showed it to him, he tore it up and said, "You don't need that anymore..." :B

Financially I have to be 108 before I can retire, so I better be able to still motorhome by then!!

Kids will probably tell me its is time. Just hope I have enough sense to listen. I have joking told them I was going to give them a signed letter to hand me when they were ready to tell me it is time.

A few years back a bunch of us were sitting around the campfire outside of Guadalajara, Mexico when this topic came up. While it can be a little more challenging to drive a Motorhome in Mexico, the consensus was 80. Some of the campers had been driving to this campground / area for 30 years and to the best of their memory a friend would turn 80 and not show up the next year. That is my GOAL!
