There are some really mid 2000s diesels available in the $100K range but the maintenance is more expensive. And there is the catastrophe case, where you need an engine or something.. A new v10 is about $10K. A new diesel might be $18-25K or more. It cost me $13K to fix a catastrophic head disaster in a Cummins about 5 years ago. And I watched the work, no ripoff.
If you can afford a catastrophe, I would go the diesel as the ride and components are much better quality.
