Tow bar

For years we had a Roadmaster baseplate and a Roadmaster towbar, Falcon, Sterling, and now a Falcon all-terrain. Recently we installed a Blue Ox baseplate on our toad, so now I have the Falcon All-terrain towbar with Blue Ox brackets on the end to match our Blue Ox base plate. I bought the Blue Ox brackets from Roadmaster. For braking we have had the Ready-Brake surge brake, and SMI Stay n Play. We do not have a braking system now as our car is below the 3000 pound requirement in Florida and the car plus our loaded MH weigh less than 1000 pounds below the GVWR for the motorhome alone. If I were to purchase another braking system it would be the Reasdy Brake. Easy to install, low in cost, and worked very well for us.

You don't say what coach and toad you have. You really need to pair up your tow bar (capacity) and brake system to the two vehicles. I like the simplicity of the Ready Brute surge brake system, but personally would not use it on anything weighing 4500 pounds or more.

You may not even need a system depending on what you're driving/towing.

This is a newbie question so please bear with me. What is involved in attaching a the base plate to the tow vehicle? Do these systems use existing holes in the frame? How visible is the tow plate when the unit is not attached to the MH? Bear in mind we are talking about my wife's 2016 Yukon so it better look good. :-)

Each Car/Truck/SUV is different, on my Jeep Cherokee the factory tow hooks came off and I attached the brackets to the unibody/bumper. There are two small 1-1/2" tubs come out from the bumper to attach the tow system. My brother and I did my SUV in 6 hours including the brake-a-way for the tow brake system.

Go to ETrailer and check them out, they might have a video for your application. Make sure you don't go over the MH GCWR for or hitch capacity for that RV.

I'm looking to get the Ready Brute elite brake and tow bar but the only dealer that I found near me has never installed one and he said he didn't like cable systems. I called the RV dealers around and they have never installed one either. I have a Hyundai Tucson 2 wheel dr 5 speed..... I'm located in WNY. Anyone have any ideas?

Any general auto mechanic should be able to follow the included instructions. There's nothing RV specific about the installation. You could also try the Ready Brake and Ready Brute Dealer Locator to see if there's one close enough to you.
