Some of the 2002 4x4 jeep grand cherokees ar not towable 4 down. If it has a select trac transmission it is 4 down towable by putting the transfer case lever in neutral and turning the key to accessory to unlock steering. I have towed a 2004 jeep grand cherokee for well over 100,000 miles.

don't forget to put shifter in park. - TexasShadowExplorer IISome of the 2002 4x4 jeep grand cherokees ar not towable 4 down. Bill - bluwtr49Explorer IIThat era is a piece of cake to tow. Tow bracket (Roadmaster) is a simply DIY and getting it ready to tow only entails slapping the transfer case into neutral and turn the key to unlock the steering wheel.
I had the wiring down by a shop and use the M@G air brake system.
Tows like a dream. - sch911ExplorerIf it has a neutral position on the 4WD shifter it is towable 4 down. Refer to the owners manual under "Recreational Towing" for the instructions.
- Georgia_CrackerExplorerIts a 4 speed automatic and has 4 WD
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIWhich one? 4X4, auto trans, standard trans? Nothing is NOT the answer!!!!
You must do something if it is towable and if it's not, that cannot be changed.
The only thing listed at FMCA is the Grand Cherokee Laredo, Limited, Overland with automatic transmission and full time 4WD. - BumpyroadExplorerwhat does your owner's manual say?
