Dolly or trailer should be the only way to to a Prius and should not be an issue either way. Don't worry about what the dealer says. I made the mistake a couple of years ago of asking multiple dealers (including Toyota) which of their models could be flat towed (4 down). Their answers? 1) "How much does your RV weigh?" Duh - I want to tow the car, not the RV!, 2) "Any of our models can be towed." Duh again - without a wrecker, folks? and 3) "With a tow package, you can pull up to 10,000 lbs!" And again - I want to pull the CAR, not the RV! They simply don't have a clue. Search online by the model year and you'll find a booklet that tells what every model requires for towing - it's the only thing you can trust besides going through the owner manual. And, by the way, you can't always depend on the owner manual. The Chevrolet Cruze hit the market big as the manuals said it could be flat towed. A few months later, a TSB was issued to say you could NOT flat tow them and it would void the warranty if you did. Care to guess why there are a LOT of used models for sale?
