TPO roof. How delicate ?

TPO is not rubber as some have stated, it is a vinyl material, EPDM is rubber. I have had both, the 5'er had rubber, and the MH has TPO. I prefer the TPO as it does not leave black streaks, and so far no holes, no punctures, nada. I do the yearly scrub to get the environmental junk off of it, and reseal where needed. I am not a small guy by any means, and yes, I walk on my roof all the time.

I would not let the roof be a determining factor on the purchase of a MH. TPO (Thermoplastic PolyOlefin) is a thermoplastic materiel and more durable than the EPDM rubber material which will slough off the white surface over time and eventually the black rubber will show underneath if left untreated. Personally I would prefer a TPO roof over the other roofing systems FG, EPDM or AL. EPDM would be at the bottom of the list but having said that my rubber roof is going on 20 years old and has not torn or leaked and was treated once with Cool Seal about 9 years ago.

12 years and my TPO roof looks great. I use Murphy's soap oil for cleaning.

It will be much quieter in a rain storm but probably won't last much over 25 years

I have had a fiberglass and TPO. I prefer TPO.

Mine is 10 years old this month (not sure of the day without pulling the paperwork) I just gave it a bath..... Looks like new for the most part, NO problems couple of stains that did not come out (Very slight and you'd not notice on a fly over but I was a tad closer to the roof)

Oh I'm 314 pounds this AM shower weight. About 325 dressed for roof work plus squirt gun and brush.

TPO is stronger then rubber and should you get a tear it can be repaired easily compared to rubber. TPO is in the vinyl family and can be cleaned as needed where as washing a rubber (EPDM) roof shortens the life. Neither should treated with anything. Only thing that requires care is not to use any caulking that is not designed for TPO as they can damage the membrane. Go for it and do not worry.

4 rvs/trailers that we have owned all had TPO, current one is 13 years old and fine, just like any roof it is mostly the seams you have to worry about.
