I've never changed my Allison Tranny fluid or filter since my coach was new 12 years ago! I thought I read a post from Bumpy a few weeks ago that it should be done at 25,000 miles? I change my motor oil and filter every 10,000 miles or once a year.
I believe with the 1000MH transmission it was recommended that you change the screw on filter at 5000 miles and then again at 30,000 miles. The internal filter gets changed at overhaul.
Your transmission came with DexIII which does not last as long as Transynd. Transynd is what Allison recommends now for your transmission and it will extend your fluid change interval to more than double that of DexIII but it takes two changes to get all of the old DexIII out to use the new change interval.
I did notice that after I changed to Transynd that my transmission runs cooler in the Western mountains.
O would say that 295 extends your change interval by about 4-5 times
Not on the first change according to Allison. Most people change and then drive for 25,000+ miles before that change again to have mostly Transynd fluid.
Allison transynd 295 oil is good for 300K miles/48 months/6000 hours normal duty so no you don't change this stuff at no 25K miles
Have you read the manual? The first fluid change to Transynd DOES NOT extend the fluid change interval at all. It is treated just like it has 100% DexIII. I mentioned the 25,000 mile fluid change because some people want to have 100% Transynd fluid in their transmission and this takes TWO fluid changes to accomplish it. You can certainly wait longer, or not wait as long, but you cannot exceed the DexIII schedule. Because of the advantages of Transynd, as mentioned by the Allison expert that used to post on this forum, some people will just do two quick fluid changes, like I did, and some will drive several thousand miles before they do the second fluid change to have 100% Transynd fluid, which is now eligible for the extended change interval. And Allison says you cannot flush their transmissions so you have to go with two manual fluid changes to change to Transynd.
we are talking two different transmissions here and iam talking 295 oil in from factory.I can go 50K miles and change filter and 300K miles on the oil
