My last class A DP tire set me back over $600 bought in town at a discount place. My DP didn't come with a spare - not only was it huge, but weighs several hundred pounds plus needs air wrench to get the bolts off. As a health young man that I was, I still wasn't going to change such a tire on the side of the road. But I can see why some carry a bare tire in their basement for the RA guy.
The van has cheap, $100 pickup truck tires you can get anywhere in North America. It may be inconvenient to wait a couple hours for RA, but it ain't the end of the world.
Also, you don't go out in the wilderness on skins. If you travel to remote areas, and don't carry a spare, you make sure you have good tires with deep tread, and carry an inflator kit and a can of fix-a-flat.
