Trouble with backup camera

I just got a new to me 2005 Monaco Monarch SE.

It has the Weldex three camera system. After I drive about an hour the rear camera quits working, blank screen. The side cameras still work.

After I get gas, etc. and start down the road again it starts working but about an hour later it quits again.

Any ideas for a fix?

Thanks,
Jerry
  • I had the exact problem w/our Weldex camera. Also did the same fix as farmer_boots. I soldered the wires directly at the camera end and haven't had a problem since.
  • Had the same kind of problem with my coach. Found it was in the connection between the cable than ran the length of the coach and the one that goes to the camera. It's a bad design allowing the connection to fail inside the connector. Could not locate a replacement connector so I just solder spliced the wires together, removing the connector all together. Only took a few minutes and have not had a problem since. If I ever replace the camera I will either try to get a connector or just hard wire it in as well.

To find the connector you must remove the camera, the extra cable is just hanging there.
  • Yes the house batteries are new and the voltage is 12-13.

BTPO1, where is the power supply you are talking about?

    Thanks,
    Jerry

I found my loose/bad solder connection at the power supply where it connected to the circuit board. Repaired it and it has been working for over a year now. You might have the same problem. JMO
  • The first thing I would check is the plug in connections on the back of the monitor. They may need to be disconnected and sprayed with cleaner and then plugged in again.
    A loose/dirty connection is a cheap fix.
