Trying to find a way to tow a Miata

I towed my 2002 5 speed Miata using a Roadmaster baseplate and a Ready Brute towbar.
The baseplates can be found on the Roadmaster website.

Any towbar that will hook up to the baseplate mounted on the car. My ReadyBrute towbar will hook up to a Roadmaster and a Blue Ox baseplate, as well as a Demco.

Base Plate for Mazda Miata

This is the system we had on our 2006 Mazda Miata We then had all Roadmaster (All Terrain Sterling Roadmaster) tow bar. Required a 6 " 5,000 lb drop hitch.

To the OP I towed a Ford Probe at 2800#. I had to use a drop receiver to get my tow bar in level plane. Worked for 5 years, however, many times I would bottom out the tow system. I saw a few placed where the Offset bracket made contact with the ground. I bought a new jeep Wangler this year as a tow. I just felt is this contact with the ground keep up I would find my tow plate or the tow hitch laying on the ground some day. I tried coming in on angle, but some times that did not help either. If you tow your Miata good luck. JMHO Gary

Every post I found says they tow 4 on the floor (it's a stick)

just cause several have done it doesn't assure anything. what does the owner's manual say under recreational towing or towing behind a motorhome.
