Tucson Repair shop for Chassis

I'm having some alternator issues. I put a new one on in August and on the way to Tucson it seems to have quite alternating ( I know thats not what it does!). Any way does anyone know of a good truck shop here? I called Lazy Days, which is where we are staying, and they said they would call me back to schedule and didn't and i called and left a voice mail, and they still didn't call back.

Called Freightliner to schedule an appointment and they don't take appointments but said to bring it in and within 3 hours they would work me in. Don't like that so much.

If anyone has a good place here would appreciate your help.

Thanks to all!
  • It could also simply be a bad alternator. I bought one from NAPA and 6 months later it was dead. It came with a 1 year warranty and I walked it into NAPA and walked out with a new alternator. That was about a year and half ago and it's still running great. Sometimes, things just break. Hope you have a warranty on your existing alternator.
  • Assuming your chassis is a Freightliner, I would go directly to them. If you have doubts call 800-ftl-help and talk it over with them.

What Brett says is indeed the case, but a conversation with facotry support can sure be a confidence builder.
  • I own a Prevost. Freightliner does excellent work on all of my engine related issues. It's not rocket science. The components are all very similar across all platforms.
  • One should never trust an RV dealer to deal with chassis stuff. ( There are a few exceptions). You are very close to Freightliner and they are a good shop. Pricey. Have you tried to find an auto electric shop that does big trucks? FL charges about $130 an hour. It is the cleanest shop I have ever seen. They do a lot of MH work. Premiere is high priced and not that great.

    Totally agree. Go to Freightliner.
  • W.W Williams has also done quite a bit of work on our coach in Tucson if you happen to be adverse to freightliner for some reason.
  • Headed to Freightliner in the morning. Will keep you all posted. Just don't like not having an appointment. No big deal. Have a new book to read as I sit in the parking lot!
