under bed storage

I own a 2005 Coachman 354MBS diesel pusher. I would like to know if anyone who owns this model or has looked under the bed if there is storage compartment under the bed. If I raise my bed I see the top of the engine. If you do have storage under your bed please let me know what the cover over the engine looks like. I purchased my M/H used and I think someone may have removed the engine cover/storage compartment bottom and didn't reinstall the cover.. Thanks for any help you can give.

There has to be a firewall. There is definitely at least one cover missing, and I bet there is two missing.
Why?? My Foretravel doesn't have one. You lift the bed and there is the engine. Of course the bed bottom is covered with fireproof insulation material. But it is nice and cozy warm at the end of a days run. Have seen many DPs set up like that.
  • I took a real good look yesterday under the bed. as my996duc1 described there is no other cover or evidence that there ever was one . The under side of bed frame has a steel cover attached.Looks like a major loss of storage space was made by coachman. Thanks for your help/ info!!!
  • I have a 2007 Coachmen CrossCounty 354MBS.
I have no additional covers on my engine once the latches are unlocked and the bed is raised the engine is exposed.

Post up a pic of yours and I will tell you if it is the same as mine.
I don't have any pics of mine right now.

  • Cover missing. Noise reduction, Fire Safety, CO source. You need that motor covered.
  • There has to be a firewall. There is definitely at least one cover missing, and I bet there is two missing.

    STEVE220,
Well Sir, I certainly don't know the underside of all the beds, of all the Diesel pushers out there but, it sure as heck sounds to me like you're missing an "engine" cover, possibly two. I have two over my engine but, that does not mean YOU should have two. I have a large one and a smaller one. That's just the way our '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the C-7 330 CAT.

Let me ask you this. Do you have or show any "bolt holes" of any type in any corner or steel framing around the perimeter of the box below the bed? Do you see any signs of where a possible "seal" (that would be on the underside of a potential cover) might reside on any framing?

You don't say what the underside of your bed looks like but, I'd sure think that bed would get seriously hot and or seriously "stinky" due to all the contaminates, dirt, debris, possible turbulent oil residue from the blow-by tube etc. I know there's at least some sort of plywood or paneling on the underside of your bed but, is there anything else? Some pictures would be nice of that area and the underside of the bed. Man, this is weird.

    Yup. Pictures please.

There should be a steel firewall between the bed and the engine.
