I have a whole house filter in the water bay and an additional filter under sink for drinking water. I got the last replacement from Home Depot for both. Under sunk I went with a drinking water filter by Lasko and for the whole house filter I used the Culligan Extra Fine Sediment filter.
I personally would not use any type of RO System because of the need to return water to grey tank (I agree with the "Yuck" comment).
Why would that be a yuk?
