Upgrading Front TV

I am about to take on the project to upgrade our front TV and I am undecided what brand to buy. I have seen good reports on Samsung. We have A 50" Panasonic in the stick house which we are happy with. Just wondering what others have had good experiences with.
  • Have a bunch of tv's and the Samsung is great for picture and sound. As you get cheaper the sound begins to suffer I strongly recommend LED as they are smaller-thin, use less energy, and put off less heat.
  • I have Samsung and LG in the stick house and upgraded my previous coach with LG LED's. They were both very nice and I really could not tell much difference.
  • I installed a Vizio in the front and one in the rear.
Also have one at home in BR.
  • I really like my 55in Samsung Smart TV LED the best, between the house and RV we have 6 LED or LCD TV's and the Samsung is really bright and clear.
  • Sammy v. Sony.. a tossup in the video, but Sony wins the sound contest in a 26" unit.
  • Having just replaced both TV's in the DP, it doesn't matter what brand you get; you will be shopping by size. There are so many variations and factors, I was amazed.

Are the speakers on the bottom, sides or in the back? There are models with almost zero gap around the screen, allowing you to get a bigger screen. There are 32s that are the same size as 26".

You need to measure and re measure your openings and trim and start clicking on technical descriptions.

I ended up with a 32 Westinghouse LED upfront that fit the width perfectly where the old 27 monster was; had to add a 2" spacer at the top, which I covered with black felt. $300.

Found a 26" Seiki that fit the width perfectly in the bedroom, again, made a 2" spacer for it to sit on which allowed me to sit the sat box under it. $125 at Best Buy.

Watch Best Buys deal of the week and their specials.

I also required a sound out on the front TV to go to the Surround Sound amp. That way, I change inputs on the TV eg OTA, DVD or sat and the sound comes out to the stereo, no settings to change.

I would suggest a LED with a matte finish. I put in a 40" GE.
  • For overall picture qualify and, more importantly, brightness, you can't get much better than the Samsung LED's.
  • Those are my favorite brands. My rig has a 40 inch Sammy and my stick bedroom/living room has a 32" Panny and a 54" Sammy.
