Video Distribution Switch (Winegard 0604/6412)

My Winegard BOMB, Amplified Video Distribution Switch, Model # 0604/6412 does not work in Antenna or in Satellite Mode. It does work in Cable mode and DVD mode. Is there a suitable sub for this discontinued switch? Has anyone repaired these switches?
Thanks,
jammeusel
  • I ditched mine and use the TV as my switch.

The DVD, Sat box, antenna and Appletv all connect to the tv with HDM (except antenna) and use the remote to change. I kept my old surround amp and connect the sound output of the tv to it so when you switch media the sound follows.

I have a Sensar Pro amp that splits the antenna signal and gives you an extra output for the back or outside antenna.
  • Here's new one on Ebay for $45 while it lasts:

The main thing that goes wrong with this switch is the power supply. The power supply isn't necessary. You can by the Winegard amplified wallplate with power supply and putting it in the line from the rooftop antenna and feeding the output to the switch. The wallplate needs a 12v source of power. I did that a few years ago. The mechanical switches still work fine and I tossed the power cord for the switch because the wall plate handles that job.

Magnedyne offers a video selector switch with power on Amazon that looks amazingly similar to the Winegard switch:

  • Had it previously been working and then quit? Or, are you new to this RV and trying to get it to work?

You need to be careful and make sure the amplifier in the switch for the antenna is working. Second, if you have an older RV the tv may require a digital tv converter to tune in over the air channels. Rv tv's started the digital tuner installs around 2008 or so. You need to be careful where you install the converter boxes if they are needed in combination with the switch. For satellite, it depends greatly on the sat receiver whether or not you can use the switch at all. Many sat receivers will need to be installed with other than coax connections directly to the tv.

    Good luck-- Mick
