Vinyl Awning Repair Tape Which one works best?

Hi all,
We have a small tear in our vinyl awning, AE, what is the best repair tape for vinyl awnings? Reviews on Amazon are a mixed bag.
  • Mine was Sun damaged. I coated it with Bis Kote

I had left over. It Looks new now.
    Never knew.

  • I guess I am the exception, I have used the tape from CW on an awning and it worked just great. Their awning tape around $12.
  • I recommend Gorilla Tape. It stick real good. Just don't get it on the hair on your arm. It hurts like ****** when you pull it off. Don't ask how I know.............:S

X-2, and it also comes in white, which is UV resistant. And it is also available in clear and camo too. The clear is also UV and temperature resistant.

Now, there ya go! I'll bet that the CLEAR Gorilla Tape would be much better than the "RV awning repair tape".

I hadn't realized that Gorilla was starting to expand it's line of tape. I always have a roll on hand, just-in-case. Had to use it a couple of times already! Great stuff!

I didn't know that either. Gorilla tape is far superior to Duct tape and duct tape is great.
  • Had a dead limb fall off a tree and punch a quarter size hole in my awning on a previous coach. Had no tape, but was afraid it would tear larger. Had some eternabond tape and cut a circle of that silver dollar size, thinking it would do until I could get some awning tape. It was still in place and still holding tight several years later when I sold the coach. I wished I had put it on the bottom side of the awning instead of the top. Worked like a champ

I can tell you that I had poor results from the Camco tape. I took the awning off, cleaned it and applied tape to both sides. It failed within 2 days. I then used gorilla tape and although it looked awful, it held until I sold the trailer.

Agreed. That clear awning repair tape that is sold in most RV stores isn't worth a darn. Tried it myself and the results were pretty much the same as OhhWell. Duct tape worked much better. For what it's worth, duct tape is now available in a wide variety of colors. Check around online. You might be able to find one that is at least similar in color to your awning so that it won't look so bad. That is, depending upon the extent of the damaged portion. You might also check with your local home supply store, Lowe's or Home Depot. Gorilla Tape is excellent, but I believe that it only comes in black.
