Visiting the Alamo

Plan on stopping at the Alamo with some grandkids this summer.
We will be coming in on I-10 from Huston. Does anyone have suggestion on best exit and approach to use and where to park our 27 foot C. We visited the Alamo back in the 90's but with a car and I remember parking being an issue then. Any help is appreciated.
  • My memory of the Alamo was how small and close to the road it is. And the parking was impossible, even for cars. No chance for a MH pulling a toad.
  • Last time there, 1956 The river walk was nothing but a drainage ditch, and if you valued your life, you never ventured down there after dark. I was stationer at Fort Sam Houston from 56 to 58. I remember the Sunken Gardens, many nice walks with the wife there.
  • Spend the night at the San Antonio KOA and catch a city bus out front..much less hassle. Take in the River Walk and Mercado while you are there, kids will enjoy both, ours did years ago.
