VOLTS AND AMPS

Hi; we're going on our first overnight camping trip tonight in our newly purchased (but used) motor home. The campground has 30 amp and 50 amp spaces. I'm trying to find out whether I can plug in my 120-volt coffee pot and am unable to find an amp to volt conversion anywhere. Anyone know? I've read posts on here stating you can't use a coffee pot, except for the stove top ones. Thank you.

  • Carl, read articles on RV electrical systems. It's not complicated and then you'll be set for adventure!
  • CarlKat,

    Welcome to the forums.

Your Triple E will plug into shore power and then you will be able to use your coffee pot.

If you wish to use the pot when trundling down the highway the options would be to run a generator (if so equipped) or add an inverter (which would draw power from the "house" batteries).
  • Our 96 Southwind has 30 AMP service. When plugged into shore power I use the coffee maker with no problems.
Either I don't understand your question or, you're overthinking the situation.
When you are on shore power, all your 120 volt appliances will work. Maybe not all at the same time but, they will work.
Enjoy your first trip and use it as a learning experience. :)
