Walmart DEF - Check carefully
Some time back I read a post where the OP stated that he got a box of Peak Blue DEF that had been previously opened and then returned. I read the post but gave it little credence.
Walmart and a couple of auto parts stores are the only suppliers of DEF near where I live, so I've been buying DEF from our local Walmart (Simi Valley) Ca. One of two boxes I bought a couple of weeks ago had been opened and apparently used. The box was taped closed and appeared factory sealed, but the pull off seal, under the cap, was missing. There was also liquid in the spout that comes with the box and white urea chunks inside the box.
I returned it to Walmart and found that "Loss Control" (undercover security) was very interested in what seems like a scam/theft. It took a little more to convince the store manager. He finally approved the return, but he told me that Walmart's policy is to never put chemicals back on the shelf if they're returned. He went so far as to say that the theft or opening of the container must have occurred while under the control of Peak or the distributor. Really!.....Walmart doesn't put stuff back on the shelves.
No matter what, check your DEF for opened boxes. I guess $12.00 is too much to pay for some to pay and don't care that they may ruin someone else's exhaust system.
