Washer water goes in to black tank.

Recently hooked up Splendide 2000 washer/dryer. Machine worked great. I noticed water dripping from behind the service panel outside. NO leaks before from Kitchen drain/sink, Bathroom shower/sink. Ran the machine and when the spin cycle drained the water out, I opened the toilet ball and it was 10" from the top and rising. Quick dump and now wondering how that grey found it's way to the black. PLUS, have a leak somewhere. 4 months ago had new gate valves put in for both black and grey. Any ideas ?? Roof vent plugged?

Yeah! That! Now that you know, dump the black before and after washing clothes. Tank will be very clean. Sounds good, IMO.

  • As with many of these posts (and as noted in the stickies on how to post) we really need to know the make, model and year of your rig. Consider spending a few minutes creating a signature with that info in it.

Ours goes straight out, no tanks involved. Make sure the drain cap is off and the stinky slinky attached. You could be back-filling the black tank through a leaky gate valve.
  • There is NO RULE or Code that states that all Gray water goes to the Gray tank. Odds are the design and floorplan of your specific RV required that the Washer drain be plumbed to the Black tank, because there was no way to run the plumbing to the gray tank. As to your question about the replacement of the Valves, there is NO WAY by replacing the valves, that, that would reroute the existing drain pipes to another tank. BTW, there are SOME RV's that the washer drain does NOT go to any tank. The drain is run to a 3 way fitting at the dump cap area and you MUST be connected to the CG drain system when running the washer as the drain water flows direct to the dump hose. Doug
  • If the Splendid is leaking, it would more than likely be the drain pump. The shaft seal will need replacing every few years. Replaced ours twice in 11 years of fulltiming. As to how the water is routed to the black tank? You'd have to ask the manufacturer about that. Actually, I'd like mine routed to the black but like most, it goes to the gray tank.
