I live in WI. Can't get away without winterizing unless I fill propane every three days. Follow the advice of your fellow South Carolinian. I do embrace the concept of using trouble light with 100 watt bulb in bay. You might use a remote thermometer to keep track of water bay temp so you know when to increase the heat. Remember the heat pumps are only worth anything at down to 40 or so and they do not blow heat into the bays like furnace .
