You also might want to get one of these, or make your own, to rinse out good every year. I used to just fill drain, fill drain with water. Then as a stocking stuffer one year I got one of these http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/water-heater-tank-rinser/49070 First impressions where, no big deal but when using it I was really surprised of how much I was missing with just a water flush.
