Water heater issues

2017 Thor, water heater only heats with electric & gas both on . Can hear gas burner on . Overnight electric on ,in morning no hot water . Reset switches (gas & electric) to on then finally get hot water . You shouldn't have to run both ? Any ideas? operator error ?

This question is from a friend of mine

Cheers

    Need Make/Model of Water Heater.

We have a Suburban, SW6DE. The model numbers may have changed but it means

    Suburban Brand
    Water Heater
    6-Gallon
Direct Spark Ignition (LPG heat turns on from inside the coach, no pilot outside)
Electric Heat also. The Breaker has to be ON. There may be a switch inside, and it has to be ON. The wrinkle is: Little switch on the outdoor face of the heater itself, lower left hand corner, hidden behind some components. Has to be ON.

Be sure there's water in the tank before lighting LPG or powering the electric up.

Suburban also has two thermal reset buttons under a rubber cover. One for LPG operation the other for Electric. Your friend can safely push both and let us know if one "clicks."
