I had to bite the bullet when changing out mine! I actually didn’t make to big a mess ,caught 90 % of the fluid in an old towel. I prepared for the deed by purchasing a brass coupler and hose clamps
I couldn’t find a correct replacement tank so went with what was available at the time .
As a result I no longer have an engine heated water heater.
I simply installed the brass connector between the hose ends.
Am currently considering installing a radiator style heater similar to what’s under the seats in school buses to augment the forward heater in the cab utilizing that handy loop of engine coolant!
