water heater

I have a atwood 6 gal. mod. # gga-be. I want to drain to winterize. It has a drain plug with two wires in it.Is it safe to take that plug out? Never seen one like that before. Could I drain with air pressure with out removing the plug? thanks for any help
  • What Dutch said. I've got the same thing. Unplug and unscrew the drain plug. After you get the plug out, it would be a good idea to clean the lime, calcium, scale off of the heating element.

Did you even know you have electric in your water heater? They are great when it comes to saving your propane when you're at hook-ups and they are efficient for a couple of people.
  • Disconnect the wires and pull it out. You'll find there's an electric element on the other side of the plug, likely from a Hott Rod electric mod kit.
