You open that drain valve and you have an expensive problem and fix. THAT valve drains the Propylene Glycol, NOT THE FRESH WATER. Doug
  • Aqua Hot, as another poster stated does NOT have a water reservoir at all. There is a small diameter copper coil running thru the Propylene Glycol tank. The propylene Glycol IS antifreeze. The CORRECT winterizing procedure is done 2 ways. First way(which I do on customers units) is to blow out the entire Fresh water system. Aqua Hot states that even blowing out, there will be water residue drops remaining in that coiled copper tube, so you then must pump RV antifreeze thru that coil. You open the Hot water drain valve(which is NOT part of the Aqua Hot) and use the on board fresh water pump to pump antifreeze until the pink comes out the Hot water drain valve. Usually less that 1.5 gallons is needed. Which is what I do. Now the Aquahot is protected from freezing. The 2nd way is to just forget blowing out and pump RV antifreeze thru the complete fresh water piping system. Doug
  • Posters above have hit all around the issue at hand, that is you can probably never drain or blow all of the water out of an Aquahot. The problem is, there is not a tank
instead the water is stored in coils of copper pipe. People have tried
to winterize by blowing the water out only to find some water remained, and that
water froze bursting the coil $$$$$. The manual above is not for your Aquahot,
    yours is probably an AHE-100-02S.

So here's hoping that it has not already frozen.
If the heat ( Aquahot ) has been running you are probably ok.
If your water flow seems good you need to winterize.
Buy RV Camco anti-freeze and make sure the Aquahot has anti-freeze.
  • if you have blue pex water line in from your water supply then disconnect if it does not have a shut off and either pump RV antifreeze thru to each hot water outlet. Or disconnect same line and low pressure air and turn on each hot water line to it run air not water. When done put in a little RV antifreeze in tank if using air. I put in inline shut off valves so once winterized no fresh water got back into it.

Get the water out now or you will be in for a lot of $$$$.

  • BTW In Indiana I suspect that if you haven't winterized yet you'll be in some bad news in the spring.
  • AquaHot has a small water tank which depending upon the model can supply limited hot water on electric or forever hot water on diesel.
  • Thanks, I’ve never had a Class A before cannot believe you don’t hace to drain the water heater. From Southern Indiana.

Though I can not help you with the aqua Hot (I'm sure someone else can)
The manual is "Generic" if you had a dometic or surburan gas/electric water heater there would be a drain plug (I know where those are) but I don't know the aqua hot.

When Winterizing there are multiple methods
Some folks pump a pink liquid through the lines and have fun come spring getting rid of it. I did that first year. never again,

After that I took an air compressor and blew the lines out (All valves including low point drains open) forced cycled the ice maker (actually I pulled the solenoid to inside the house) blew again like 10 times waiting a few mintues between blows.. This should blow out your aqua hot.

Finally we got rid of the house and then we winterized by the best method the "S" method.. now we did not use the full "S" method but .

Strap a snow blower to the front of the Motor home or tow vehicle (We did not do this part)
    Drive south.
When someone looks. pushes their hat back, Scratches their head and asks "What the @#$@ is that thing?" you are winterized (for us that was Oconee County South Carolina)
