Shurflo seems to be a very popular brand of RV pump. When doing the job, I advise to consider adding an accumulator tank like THIS ONE for it will increase the life of the pump, provide consistent water pressure (especially nice when showering), and reduce pump noise. I added a 2 gallon tank 8 years ago and love it. I only wished I spent the money on the one I recommend to save space in my outdoor storage compartment....nice to mount the pump on top of the tank instead of what I did HERE.
Excellent idea about installing an accumulator tank. Just be sure that you can drain out the water (tank above the low point drain) if you need to winterize the unit.
Accumulator tanks have a pressurized bladder. I don't know about the plastic tanks, but the steel tanks have 10-15-20 psi so the tank empties out when there is no water pressure.
I agree that the tank drains, but if the lines cannot drain and a little water is left in it it will freeze and break a line. We saw this a lot at our Bible camp that we run at the water valves. We left the valves open with the water off and some would not drain completely. Then in the spring we would have to replace the line or valve. I think it is best to install an accumulator tank so the inlet is at the bottom. JMO
