Heck, if one or the other of you is outside doing stuff for a period of time, maybe the extra foot or two doesn't matter so much.
If she won't be happy unless you go as big as possible, go big. When your inside time overlaps, it's tight, even with an extra foot or two.
Rent first, it might help in your decision.
