My wife and I have very different interests and many of our stops will involve one of us spending long periods in the rv waiting for the other.
I have 3 small dogs, all have individual permanently secured crates. My RV is a repurposed 17' conversion van .. an RVan. I have all the room I need with my dogs, but I mostly read (ebooks and computer) and watch TV (Dish satellite) and DVDs. I am not sure what else somebody wants to do while hanging out in their RV that needs more room. Taking a nap? The only other item would be a generator for heating/cooling/cooking.
As for rain storms, my solution is to pull up stakes (well take in the electrical cord) and head for dryer climates. The conflict is when people want to do different noisy things and earphones are good for that. My solution was to get a tear drop camper for my DH so he could have his own separate "nest" just the way he likes it. It worked great on our month long trip. He liked hiking and biking, I stayed "home". It really is amazing how less is more.
