website for selling an older MH?

What web sites have people had good luck selling an older MH.Tried craigs list had no luck.
  • Thanks everyone for the ideas but right after I posted this a guy called and came out and bought it!Guess I,m not an rv,r anymore.
  • As has been mentioned, Craigslist is a very effective means of finding interested buyers. I'd guess the issue is with price or condition. Not changing one or the other probably won't yield any better luck anywhere else.
  • You might try some of the specialty websites that focus on activities that use motorhomes. Racing, 4 wheeling that sort of thing. Folks there often look for reliable tow rigs.
  • If it didn't sell, it's priced too high. This adage will be true whether you sell it on eBay, CL, RVTrader or wherever.....

My old hotrod pickup has been listed on eBay six times now and the guy still hasn't lowered his price. He just keeps relisting it. It'll never sell at the price he's asking. He lowered his starting price but is keeping his reserve at his old dreamer price....:S.....Dennis
  • I've bought and sold a fair amount on CL. What I usually is are the ads that don't give enough valuable information to get me seriously interested. If you really want to sell it you need to provide a number of decent photos and a good detailed description of what you have.

Post it outside of your area too, most users do not search far and wide for what they are looking for so you need to be the one that posts up on a number of CL pages.

Finally people on CL want a bargain, I looked up your rig on NADA low going for $15,950 and average $19,200. If you're upside down and asking much more for it then it's not going to move or even get you many contacts.
  • Also the quality of the add makes a big difference when selling. Make sure you take the time to give a nice write up with lots of details. Also be sure to include a bunch of nice pictures. When people see a quality add they feel that they will be going to look at a quality item.

Don't submit the "Caveman add: "Me got RV for sale" "Me sell for nyne million dollahs"
  • I sold my MH on Craigslist last month. I put it up for a fair price that was well below book value. It sold within 48 hours.

Two things that are important for finding a new owner. One you control and one you don't.

    1: Price - you control
2: Timing - You cant control when the right buy is looking for what you are selling.
  • If its listed for twice what its worth you will get no action. There is a American Eagle on Craigs list here for twice what it is worth and its been on there for a year or more.
  • wanna just get it gone? take it to the biggest local auction house. CL works just gotta watch the scammers ,there easy to spot.
  • Hmmmm... I bought 2 motor homes and sold one on CL. When looking for my current rig, I watched RVT and RVTrader daily, but the stuff they listed as "Just Listed" was weeks and even months old. In craigs list, I filtered by "posted today".

Did you put a lot of pix in the CL ad? I know I skipped the ads that had no pix or just one on the motor home parked in the driveway.
