Wet Floor

I have a 2010 Winnebago Sightseer when running the air conditioner the floor on the passenger side get wet but not all the time, I checked the drain on the bottom of the AC and it is draining I don't know max air makes a difference or not any advice is welcome.
  • We had the same issues with our AC also. I also checked the drain and it was working, just not enough. I inserted a plastic tube inside the drain to check flow and sure enough no more wet spots at the passenger feet. So when we got home I put in a new drain hose. Have not had the issue since. It did have a build of junk.
  • I don't know your floorplan, but could it be anything else? Are you sure it is the AC? Occasionally, when it is very hot and we are on the road, our fridge begins to defrost and we find water on the floor.
  • I had a car that did that...the drain tube was sealed like a lip to keep dirt out...but the water could not get thru the lip fast enough..so it backed up...I cut the lip and just left tube open..water drained right out and no more problem.

Ok, Here is what most folks do not know about MAX-AIR

THe only difference between MAX and NORMAL is where the air comes from going into the evaporator unit.. MAX recirculates air from INSIDE the Vehicle,, on RV's it's usually a grill near the passanger's foot (How the water is getting in)

On "Regular" it's a mix of recirculated and fresh (outside) air.

Under high humidity it may be the drain tube is not draining fast enough, or it may be partially clogged.. Or there may be a design / install fault. If the RV Is udner warranty go to authorized service place or warranty factory.

If not. If you can easily open the condenser compartment (Some you can, some you can't) Inspect.
  • Thanks for the info guys but I was referring to the cap AC the unit is under the hood in front of the passenger near the floor I went under the RV and could see water coming out of the drain tube of the AC I see a flap that is in two positions one for max air and the other for normal air don't know why its coming into the floor area in passenger compartment any ideas?
  • I just had a leaking problem on my AC. I took off the inside covers to tighten the four bolts that held the AC to the roof. Out of the four three were so so tight and the forth was very loose. I tightened them up so snug against the roof and insulation. Have not had a leak problem since.
  • Low fan speed, dirty return air filter, high humidity etc can cause Icing up of EVap coil and/or excessive amounts of condensation.
Drip pan under EVA Coil has drain holes that allow for condensation run off.
If not FULLY clear condensation can accumulate faster then drains can remove it.

Then it can drip out of ceiling grill and/or get carried over by fan blower into discharge plenum///leak form ceiling grill or roof duct

High Fan speed, clean return filter, drip pan DRAINS free and clear.
And 'tilt' rig so condensation can NOT run towards roof opening.
  • Maybe the coil is freezing up and when it warms a little, the ice turns into water and drips through the return air vent.
