- SnomasExplorerHad to replace a leaking heater hose. Planning to leave for south Texas next week. Seems like something will likely go wrong just before a long trip!
- Canadian_RainbiExplorerWash and paste wax by a couple of young men from the local Autolavado (carwash). Took them 5 hours. Better them than me.
And the AC tech advised me that the basement heat pump has a dead compressor. Temps is the high 20s C, low to mid 80s F.
It's 87F inside the rig with all windows open and both fans on high. - racer99Explorer2000 Fleetwood Flair/30'/V-10/F-53 chassis
Today I crawled under the MH to see what was involved to change the sway bar settings -which I heard makes a super big difference in handling-On the front I had to weld a extention on but the rear went super easy -Hope it makes the difference all the guys are saying it does-3 to 4 hrs work -no money spent -That is the kind of jobs I like-Rich
pauperspride.blogspot.com - bruceislaExplorerSpent an hour restitching the side hems and the top spline pocket for the slide awning .... not really straight stitches but effective. New spline went in pocket without incident. Tomorrow I try to remount the assembly.
- TGarrettExplorerlearned how to install a new black tank valve, wow what a crappy job that is. Took a hell of a lot of tools to get it out and back in and had to use pry bars to pull tanks apart. Would have asked for help but I didn't want to do it and I don't know any friends leaping at the opportunity.
Took my missing bedroom window pane and built a 1/2 plywood filler to take it's place and painted it black. Looks much better than the duct tape and is much cheaper than 150$ replacement, will buy a whole new window assembly after new baby is born and bills settle down.
I built the frame for my upgrade to my counter extension that was missing. I am building a frame for a cutting board that will be custom cut to fit so that it will probably effectively triple my current counter space. That way I can take it out to wash it when I need to. Will post pictures of it when I get it finished. The only thing I don't like is kitchen is maple and I am building this out of oak so it won't match.
Started lining up the upgrade for my propane system that is tomorrow's project and will be posting that along with pictures in my other post. - charlesExplorerToday I cleaned and greased my towbar and hooked it up to the receiver. One step closer to winter vacation.
Nick - racer99ExplorerToday I crawled under MH to remove driveshaft so I can check u-joints and replace center carrier bearing -ended up being a piece of cake -took it to local shop they pressed off old bearing and pressed on new less than $40.oo parts and labor-WOW I like this kind of job-Rich
pauperspride.blogspot.com - Canadian_RainbiExplorerYesterday.
Drove into RV park where last year grass was a little soft for our DP and left fairly deep ruts.
This year looked a lot firmer, drove on slowly , front wheels hardly made a dent continued on, three or so vehicle lengths in left front began to sink and rear duals sank in up to the hub! :S
Tried to lift the rear wheels with the jacks, a block rolled and knocked the base plate off one of the springs! :E
Jack almost fully extended is now buried in the sod, and no springs to retract it! After much digging ( by a couple of lads from the motel after their shift) we managed to get a 3X3 8' lever under the jack and pushed it up. After releasing the valve of course!
Then much more digging and use of scraps of plywood from the motel's scrap heap we reversed out. (Not the first try, not the second, but after a lot more digging around all four wheels.)
About three or four hours!
Now I need to post in the Class A forum about the jacks, and also the suspension, which is much lower on the left rear(the deepest stuck)
Also something weird with the PowerLine ems in Tech issues I guess. :h
Oh, we are in Mexico, and RV techs are non existent! - PSU_RVrExplorerWoke up to a dead battery. I guess the furnace running all night, plus the 29 degrees temp were not kind to battery life.
- Tucson_LawrenceExplorerToday I hooked up my new bluetooth OBD reader,
then I switched out the showerhead for an Oxygenics body spa and removed the mattress (we are replacing it with a foam one)
Because LOML and I aren't big fans of shiny gold trim I have been working on ways to turn our shiny gold trim in our RV to brushed nickel color.
Today I replaced the bathroom door knob with a lockable (bathroom type) door handle. Because the door was a wee thiner than the lockset called for I had to grind down the parts so that they wouldn't bind. I'm happy with the outcome though.
I then removed a couple of cabinet handles and a hinges to test different ways to take the gold off. Last week I tested sanding and then priming and painting a gold knob with rustoleum satin nickel paint to test how it did-- it looked nice as long as I used very thin coats.
Because I didn't want to hand sand everything, today I tried sandblasting the parts... and lo and behold, when sandblasted the handles turned into brushed nickel! Tomorrow I'll put a couple of coats of lacquer onto them and I think this will work out just fine. I'm very happy as this will save me either a considerable sum in replacing the handles or a lot of work painting them. Sandblasting took about 30 seconds :) (and it worked much better on the hinges than painting ever would have!

Fun day, tomorrow I have some work to do on a helmet case just like this one (this is the main reason I had my sandblaster out at all.. to do the glass etching)

Anyway, I have a LOT or hinges and handles to blast, but I'll be sure to post pics when they are done.
Oh yeah, and watched the odometer roll onto 55555 :)
