Started restoration of the drive train on my "brand new" 1984 Jamboree Rallye.
Like a reality show, we are under a time constraint to get it through Maryland inspection. Maryland won't extend the 30 day temporary tag to it's a do or die kind of thing. We have until September 21, 2012 to get it up and running and inspected for permanent tags.
Yesterday and today:
Put it up on blocks.
Removed rear wheels, checked brakes and lines. Discovered a leak near the master cylinder
Emptied gas from gas tank to drop it. Inspect gas tank... Oh darn, it needs replacing or repairing (not a surprise)
Install new alternator belt.
Reset carburetor
replace windshield wipers
replace fuses
It has been so hot and then it started to sprinkle with lots of thunder and lightening so we put a hold until today. It's still hot but not raining.
Wish us luck with our first RV. John is a vintage vehicle lover and in his career has restored motorcycles, cars and tractors so I am hoping he will find this to be a worthwhile project.
Inside the motor home is perfect. Other than vent windows, carburetor and cassette player you would think it was brand new. Oh, no microwave either.
