IMHO: Oklahoma is not even close to being one of the worst states, in fact it is one of the best. We crossed 22 states on a 2 month cross country trip in May/June and I-40 was some of the finest interstate in the country. Only Missouri had better roads and it was close.

Now if you want to talk about horrible roads with potholes the size of VW's try Washington DC, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio. For the ultimate thrill drive the interstates in Michigan. :E Between the worst winter in recent memory and the 170,000# steel trucks they let run around the state we are talking some serious potholes.

I had a Michigan State Trooper personally apologize, on behalf of the State of Michigan, for the condition of their roads. This after stopping me when he saw me repeatedly "weaving" into the middle lane(only when it was vacant), from the right where I was driving. Turns out he could see me moving over but couldn't see the potholes I was dodging from his seven o'clock position. Following the apology we both had a good laugh and he sent us on our way wishing us luck. :B
