watch the weather.....decades ago we were tent camping there on the West Side and heard the elk bugling in positively harmonic splendor....then the ranger came by and said we had to leave as they were locking the gate early due to blizzard coming in....we were the last over the summit as the gate was chained....past the stone ski hut at the top & down the long long grade into the East Side...
