- snowdanceExplorerInstalled the new LED LCD TV and Blueray player. Took it for a drive. Really did not want to turn it around and come home. Go figure.
- RambleOnNWExplorer IIPicked up some Mobil 1 5W-20 oil and a Motorcraft FL-820S oil filter for the annual oil change.
- WinniecoupleExplorerDropped off the jenny at an Onan certified service shop at 1100am... after a small engine shop had tinkered with it for a month... well, by 2pm, they Onan guy called me and told me it was "perring like a kitten" one bad relay. AWESOME. So, since it was removed from the RV, it took me till about 530pm to have it installed, re-weld my exhaust heat shield for the jenny and up and running. Had to tack weld one bolt to a cheap wrench to reach a back mounting bolt... worked like a charm. So I exercised the jenny with the A/C for about 45 minutes and took her for a 10 mile drive... got her home and washed the dust off the windows to take it on a day trip tomorrow... LOVE IT.
- snowdanceExplorerA while back I installed a dark window tint on the over cab bunk area and on the door glass, Then we got some of the insulation used for garage doors (Same stuff the folding windshield covers are made of but in rolls) and my wife sewed velcro in areas I marked. While she was doing that I installed small pieces of velcro around the windows in a number of spots so the window screws ran thru them. We then stuck the insulation over the windows. We have noticed the RV is much cooler with the sun hitting the front part. And it seems to take much less heat to keep it warm.
We use the front area for storage only but were upset several times when we had to park with the afternoon sun hitting the front. The heat was like an oven. Also seemd to be a very cool spot when heating. - Mike_and_Kathy_ExplorerTopped up the propane for upcoming trip.
- braeworthExplorerThanks, oldtrucker! I'll try it; nothing like pics to go with commentary!
braeworth - EMD360ExplorerIsn't it great that AGM's don't have to be vented? Also they don't have to be upright. They can lay on their sides or on edge. I don't have enough space below the furnace and refrigerator or I would have tried to connect them on their sides there.
They add about 132 lbs to the rear axle, but I weighed the rig fully loaded (except for passengers) and it had 400 lbs available on the rear. Luckily the water tank is opposite so that there is some balance too.
I gave up and took the RV into the shop today to have the genny fixed. It was showing a code 14 error. They replaced the carburetor and blamed varnished gas. There was hard amber colored stuff caked on it. Seems to run well with a new carburetor though. Blamed the ethanol in today's fuel and recommended Stabil with Ethanol Enhancement to combat the culprit. Always good to have something fixed and not broken--especially before a big trip! - WinniecoupleExplorerFound out that "small engine repair shops" dont know JACK about Onan generators... after a month of head scratching, they called and said I need to take it to an RV service location. Lucky for me, there is one down the road, the mechanic said he could have it running in 4-5 days... I didnt tell him I had it out of the RV and on a roller dolly, so hopefully being able to take it into his shop, should save some time... (big trip in 29 days)
- dgcarverExplorerActually, you don't need ventilation for AGM as they are completely sealed and non-gassing. I did the same thing but installed in an outside storage that is acutally under my bed. AGM bateries cost more, but generally have more capacity than automotive batteries and longer life.
- crawfordExplorerI was thinking the same thing.
